Finishing the Phd – Stop talking and start writing

TIPPINST – I am now reaching the stage where I have to start placing my thoughts on paper i.e. the thesis. One piece of advice I received while attending a workshop in 2005 in UL was to “stop talking and start writing”. This advice is borne out by a recent article in inside higher ed
Yale have recently announced a plan to re-examine all of its Ph.D. programs — with an emphasis on what happens in the second through fourth years. This based on their belief that what happens in those years may well determine whether a student can wrap up a doctorate in six or seven years. While the Phd format inYale is very different to the Irish system the core principle hold true. It is necessary to commit thoughts to paper and start the daunting process.
