Emigrant.ie has an interesting article on McAfee.
It seems that the US anti-virus software company McAfee is to relocate its European headquarters from Amsterdam to either Dublin or Cork, with the possibility of up to 100 new jobs here.
Discussions with IDA Ireland are already underway, while the company's Netherlands staff were reportedly informed of the move last week.
It's understood that Ireland's competitive 12.5% corporate tax rate is the main incentive behind the decision - the Dutch rate is 34% - with analysts suggesting that there are concrete savings to be made in locating the office and certain functions here.
Our low rate of corporation tax is a very sore point with some of our EU neighbours
Thurles Golf Club now has a website. Included on the site are competition results and information about the club. The site is in its infancy and more content will added over the next few weeks.
Amazon.com has announced it will be opening a development centre in Edinburgh to tap local talent for new features to add to the e-tail giant's site.
The centre is to open its doors before the end of the year but Amazon.com has already started the hunt for recruits to populate the Edinburgh site, with up to 40 positions needing to be filled by the end of 2006.
Amazon is looking for managers, a graphic designer, and software engineers with over three years experience in Java or C++.
Amazon.com, which recently launched its own search engine, received a £250,000 grant from the Scottish government to set up the development centre.
