Young Scientist sound bites

| | Comments (0)

TIPPINST - Bernie Goldbach and the Multimedia students have put together some very interesting podcasts from the young scientist exhibition that was held in Dublin Ireland. The interviews with the younger audience are an eye opener as to how they view science in school and around them. In podcast 18 they also talk to the Irish people who get involved in robot wars. Well worth a listen to.

The Tipperary Institute stand was very busy at the event hosting numerous queries about multimedia and software development, of particular interest to the general public was robocode and creating and recording mp3 live content.

Choosing a dvd recorder with hard drive

Having spent the last week reviewing what dvd recorders are available in Ireland that offer value for money, I have shortened the list to two contenders

LG RH-7500 80 GB 320 Euros in Dixons

The LG RH-7500 supports a variety of formats including + and - R. My one gripe is that is does not have EPG.
The 80 GB drive can always be upgraded in the future as its a maxtor ide drive.

Pioneer DVR-530H-S 160 GB driver 447 Euros incl delivery from pixmania
This dvd recorder was winner of the "Best European DVD Recorder 2005-2006" from the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).

Recordable Media DVD-R /DVD-RW / DVD-RAM
It does not support DivX but has Electronic Program guide.

From the above, the conclusion I can draw: If you want a dvd recorder/player that supports multiple formats and you don't mind not having EPG then the LG RH-7500 could be the ideal candidate.
