skype wireless phone launched at CES

TIPPINST – Netgear and Skype have joined forces to launch a wireless phone that unlike previous skype phones does not require a pc. Skype’s members will be able to use the phone on any wireless Internet connection out of the box after entering their username and password.
The phone will work on encrypted Wi-Fi networks, as long as a user has the proper network ID, but it will not work on paid Wi-Fi systems like those offered at many bookshops and cafes. However, the system is not designed to work seamlessly across multiple access points.
While this is tempting I am still considering using the VOIP service offered by the irish company blueface and using a linksys WRT54GP2.
This unit ist Wireless-G (802.11g at 54Mbps) and Wireless-B (802.11b at 11Mbps). There’s also a built-in 3-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. There are two standard telephone jacks, each operating independently.
This will allow me to connect our landline to the unit so that our cordless phone will have access to VOIP as well as the standard phone service.
